Yes, very calm indeed! LOL.. It feels like they are dangling a carrot in front of me. The 4th Test is actually my fav of all the 9 tests. I was blown away when I read the novel. I hope they don't take out too much of TS's awesomeness. Reading this 4th test made me reminisce the good old times when TS showed his prowess and his tactical genius during the Soul Master competitions.

Beware, the terms they use are very different from the subs. They call the soul masters as spirit master hence, your martial soul is your spirit. But I still love the translation (or the translator). He's the first translator of DD (Soul land) and the best imo.

Uh....I gotta admit I wasn't a fan of this episode lol. The beginning gave us little that we didn't already know, and while I'm all for showing the development of XG and BBD's courtship, the market scene struck me as terribly cheesy/cliche and superficial. I was at least hoping for some good dialogue, even if it's largely invented material. Honestly, I thought the maps were the best part of the ep--those are surprisingly interesting to me lol.

No prob--if this 4th trial is even half as good as the novel it's gonna by hype asf. Another massive power-up INCOMING.

I agree, I wasnt a fan of this episode either and the integration of chess with the use of the maps was pretty good especially for those who dont follow any type of tactics in fps games and run around like headless chickens. I didnt like that they used the same voice actor for the younger version of bibi dong as xiao wu, they could have easily used Zhu Zhuqing's voice for her even if they were on a budget.

Not just the voice actress the character design is a copy with minor alterations of the current Wu design—down to the outfit.

its initial design is similar but different material, the skirt train xiao wu has is almost see through. The top half of her outfit has more metal involved in the design and on her tights whereas bibi dong's is focused more on a thick fabric that isnt see through. Not to mention that the top of xiao wu's outfit also has more of her skin showing and she is wearing glass shoes compared to the typical high heels worn by bibi dong.

In regard as to the reasoning behind why its similar, I can only put it down to using the same base design as xiao wu's, by that I mean think back to when Flender was designing the new uniform, he had the base design for men and women outlined and worked on top of that. It is disturbing but also think how many different designs are used for cheongsam dresses which nearly all of them follow the same base design, the only difference is the length of the dress.

Damn, I'm already so hyped. I really hope it's at least half as good because our boy literally aced the trial all by himself, and there was no unnecessary bunny-saving-distressed-dude scene. This week feels like they are trying to slow down the pace to heighten the hype for next week. I would normally rewatch it again to better grasp the development of each episode but this week, I'm giving it a skip lol.

I remember at the beggining of the anime, Tan and Wo had their own moments like these where I used to skip. Its been a long time since something like that happened haha

I see where they are heading in this episode. They are building the backstory (which didn't exist in the novel) for Yu XiaoGang and Bibidong to justify the later events. That's the weakness of the novel, either it's overly dragging or you'll find it hard to understand the justification of certain plots and events — to quote @douluo, "balance" or the lack thereof is the Achilles heel of the novel.

Nevertheless, it does feel like a filler episode though, despite their best attempt to narrate the doomed love story of the most unlikely pair. I just think this particular couple is just not believable enough and feels a little forced.

Exactly. I love that they're trying to balance the storylines by illustrating the events on the mainland and XG/BBD's backstory, because the novel was pretty horribly unbalanced/undeveloped. I just hope it doesn't come at the expense of the main event, so to speak. Romance done right can be a huge boon, but done wrong or "winged"...it can be disastrous lol.

Yeah I don't remember any evidence of marriage. He didn't need to; he accomplished his design.

True there isnt really a mention of them marrying but in several other donghua's there has been mention of when a man forces a women to make her his woman/partner. I was just assuming he married her because of her daughter also referring to that man as her father while showing contempt for her mother and denying her very existence.
